Hawaii House Tourism Committee Passes Timeshare Tax Bill


Issue Brief

After taking testimony on HB 809 on Monday, January 31st, the House Tourism Committee considered the merits of HB 809 in a hearing on Monday, February 7.  The bill was passed out of committee by a 9-0 vote (with 2 abstentions).


Now that the bill has been moved out of the Tourism Committee, it will likely be heard in the House Finance Committee in late February or early March.  To read more about the effects of HB 809 and other harmful tax legislation, click here.

Position/Call to Action

ARDA-Hawaii and ARDA-ROC will both continue to strenuously oppose HB 809 (as well as all other harmful tax legislation) and plan to mobilize the thousands of Hawaii residents who own timeshare in Hawaii to voice their opinion to these measures.  For more information on how you can get involved, please click here.
