Democrat Jay Nixon was re-elected Governor of Missouri in 2012. Republicans hold a 26 – 8 majority in the Senate and a 105 – 55 majority in the House of Representatives.

The Senate is led by President Pro Tem Robert Mayer. The House of Representatives is led by Speaker Steve Tilley. The Missouri Legislature convenes January 9, 2013.

Missouri Bill Clarifying Tax Assessment Signed by Governor

House Bill 1818 was approved by the Governor of Missouri on July 5 after passing the full Missouri House of Representatives on May 18, the last day of this year’s legislative session. This bill will clarify the valuation of timeshares for real property tax purposes and was filed in response to confusion regarding assessments in Branson going back to 2007.

Missouri Timeshare Bill to be Heard on March 22

HB 1818, intended to address recurring property tax issues (particularly in Taney County), has been formally introduced in the Missouri legislature and is scheduled to be heard tomorrow, March 22, in the House General Laws Committee.
